Ardgarth is a warm and comfortable family run Guest House in Edinburgh's seaside suburb of Portobello, which is definitely 'all ages' friendly! The house has been tastefully adapted from a large Victorian family house with a variety of well proportioned rooms to suit family groups of up to five, or the independent single traveller.
3 Star Guest House Inspected & Graded each year by the Scottish Tourist Board.
We have two fully accessible rooms on the ground floor and are proud to have been awarded overall winner of the Leonard Cheshire award for business 2005 and were "runner-up" in the 1997 Thistle Awards in the Category "Tourism For All".
Also in 1997 Scottish Enterprise awarded a Certificate for providing "Scotland's Best Service to each Visitor".

Looking down the street there is a clear view of the outer reaches of the Firth of Forth and the Kingdom of Fife is easily visible on a clear day.
Accommodation:
We have 10 single, double, twin and family rooms, either en-suite or standard (with wash basins). The rooms are of generous size, clean, warm and comfortably furnished.
All rooms are heated, comfortably furnished and have TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Hairdryers are available for loan. Cots, high chairs and baby listening can be arranged.
Rooms for Disabled People:
The ground floor accommodation is suitable for disabled people, and is accessible (with no steps) directly from the low pavement via a purpose-built ramp. The Scottish Tourist Board has graded the accommodation as Category 1 Unassisted Access.
There are two bedrooms with en-suite showers and WCs fully equipped for disabled people. The roll-in shower trays are flush/level with the floor enabling easy access by the wheeled shower chairs (provided). One of the rooms is a double and the other has twin beds. Bed blocks are available and power points are raised.
The dining room is on the same level as the bedrooms and the tables are of appropriate height and width. The public telephone is also at level access. All door openings are of ample width for wheel chairs.
French, is spoken.
To assist our guests we now have free wifi and free internet access on our guest computer in the guest lounge.
Breakfast:
Breakfast is included in the price of the room. We offer a choice of a cooked Scottish breakfast, Continental breakfast or Scandinavian Breakfast. We also cater for vegetarians and other diets (by prior arrangement).
Breakfast is served daily from 7:45 till 8:45 in the carefully restored dining room with period fire place, pine floor and Ursula's unusual collection of teapots on the delft rack.
Bed & Breakfast Location:
Portobello is 3.5 miles East of Princes Street in Edinburgh City centre, and is conveniently located close to the North end of the new A1 dual carriageway, which connects with the city by-pass.

Payment: By cash, cheque or credit card is acceptable on day of departure (subject to minimum credit card payment of £50.00).
Advanced Booking: Either deposit required equal to cost of first night, or credit card authorization. (no payment taken unless in event of cancellation - see below).
Cancellation: If within 48 hours (before 17:00 on arrival date), full price is charged. If greater than 48 hours, full price is charged less price of any alternative booking.
If greater than 1 week before, no charge is made.
Credit Cards: Visa and MasterCard are accepted subject to minimum payment of £50.00 and a surcharge equivalent to charges to us for banking and processing - approx 5%.
