Inverness-shire (Siorrachd Inbhir Nis in Gaelic) is one of the traditional counties of Scotland. Its main town is Inverness, and it also includes Kingussie, Fort William and Mallaig. Capital of the Highlands, the historic town of Inverness is situated on the River Ness, which runs from the famous Loch to the Firth of Moray. Inverness retains its character as a market town, and offering visitors a superb base to visit the many attractions from Loch Ness to the west, the Black Isle to the north and Culloden Moor to the east.
