Accommodations UK - TravelNet welcomes you to Northern Ireland!
Northern Ireland has some of the most stunning landscapes in the world. It
is a land of gloriously green romantic countryside, spectacular coasts and
mountains.
Giant's Causeway (seen above) is a mass of basalt columns packed tightly
together. The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the
cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Altogether there are 40,000 of these
stone columns, mostly hexagonal but some with four, five, seven and eight
sides. The tallest are about 40 feet high, and the solidified lava in the
cliffs is 90 feet thick in places.
The historic cities of Belfast, Derry and Armagh are well worth visiting and
all boast lively pubs and fine restaurants.
The lively capital city of Belfast has an extensive range of shops, clubs,
pubs, theatres, parks, galleries, restaurants, leisure centres and much more
to explore by the tourist.
Londonderry, also known as Derry, is Northern Ireland's second largest city, and
sits near the border of the Republic of Ireland.
Armagh City is located in the heartland of Northern Ireland. Armagh has a
wide range of visitor attractions including museums, parks, theatre and a
fine assortment of restaurants and bars.
With its green hills, rivers and lakes, mountains and spectacular coastline,
Northern Ireland is the perfect setting for most outdoor activities.
Dozens of small towns are hidden away down among the green places of the
countryside, and fishing villages string out along the shores.
