Wales
is a land of mystery and culture, history and outstanding natural beauty. The
beauty of the countryside, the wealth of its traditions and history, the spirit
of its people, make Wales a wonderful place to visit. From rolling hills
to golden beaches, from soaring sea cliffs to the rugged grandeur of Snowdonia,
the scenery of Wales is spectacular. Wales, although only a small country,
contains some of the most interesting and varied scenery in the world. The Snowdonia
range of mountains contain the highest peaks in Wales reaching to over 3,000 feet.
The Edwardian castles of Caernarfon, Conwy, Harlech and Beaumaris are all
World Heritage Inscribed Sites and the magnificent 700 year old Chirk Castle
has been lived in continuously since it was built.
Cardiff is the largest city in Wales, located in Southeast Wales on both banks
of the river Taff where it meets the Bristol Channel. Cardiff offers great
shopping, first-class dining, accommodations and entertainment.
Swansea is the second largest city in Wales. The city of Swansea is situated
on the South Wales coast immediately to the east of the Gower Peninsula.
The Welsh coastline has many resorts
with sandy beaches and picturesque harbours, the Victorian resort of Llandudno
being the largest. Llangollen hosts the International Musical Eisteddfod in July
each year. Wales is a land of nature and legend with stunning natural,
unspoiled scenery that is protected by a series of large National Parks. For lovers
of nature and the great outdoors Wales can be the perfect destination. |
